Monster Hunter Rise Okami

Okami is coming to Monster Hunter Rise this week

There’s a Monster Hunter Rise Okami crossover coming this week, the second of five planned Capcom Collabs between Rise and various iconic Capcom games. The first Collab came out in June and was a crossover between Rise and the more recent Monster Hunter Stories 2, so this Monster Hunter Rise Ammy Palamute costume is the first appearance of a character outside the franchise in the game.

How to get the Palamute Ammy Costume in the Monster Hunter Rise Okami collab

Monster Hunter Rise Okami

The Monster Hunter Rise crossover with Okami is in the form of an Ammy Costume for the player’s Palamute companion, or more specifically, a layered armor set in the style of Okami. The Ammy DLC costume will be available this Friday, July 30, and can be downloaded for free as an update at that time. Once downloaded, from within Monster Hunter Rise all players have to do to get the Okami armor is complete the appropriate Event Quest, which is included as part of the update. After completion, the player will get the Palamute Ammy armor as a reward.

There doesn’t seem to be any practical benefit to giving the Palamute this Ammy costume, although it does seem to add extra effects such as flames on the back and flower petals under the Palamute’s feet while running, which are incredibly cool. There’s another Capcom Collab due for Monster Hunter Rise in August, and two further DLC Collabs planned for the Fall, although what games are crossing over and what the updates will include are a mystery at this time.

There are still plenty of DLC updates to come for Monster Hunter Rise, despite the more recent release of Monster Hunter Stories 2 — here are the differences between the two Monster Hunter games on Switch. As for Rise, check out our review here, where our reviewer called it “like a step forward, even if it’s only a small one.”
