Sea of Thieves is receiving some surprising free DLC, with Pirates of the Caribbean anti-hero Jack Sparrow making his way to Rare’s multiplayer game. The news was confirmed during today’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, with a new trailer revealing the Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life expansion.
How to get Sea of Thieves Jack Sparrow and Pirates of the Caribbean DLC
To get Jack Sparrow and the Pirates of the Caribbean ‘A Pirate’s Life’ DLC in Sea of Thieves, players must download the free content on June 22, its release date. It seems that players will not be able to play as Jack Sparrow in the game, with him instead seemingly leading a story based on the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.
The Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life DLC will presumably be one of the game’s Tall Tales — story-driven, lengthy missions that players can complete for rewards. While it hasn’t been confirmed if the Pirates of the Caribbean content will fit this bill, considering that Jack Sparrow is a fully voiced character, it’s unlikely that he’ll be an unlockable skin. Instead, it’s much more likely that players will be led on a story by the character that also encompasses other PotC characters, as revealed in the trailer.
A Pirate’s Life will seemingly introduce unique gameplay features, with the trailer showing players swimming alongside mermaids and taking on new enemy types related to the Pirates of the Caribbean universe, such as Davey Jones’ fishy pirates and ghostly pirates, too.
