Starfield was finally unveiled at the Xbox/Bethesda Showcase at E3 2021. We also got a release date alongside the trailer that’s a lot later than fans had hoped. We saw that the game will be a console exclusive, but the big question on everyone’s mind is whether it would make it to Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Will Starfield be on Xbox Game Pass at launch?
It’s still weird to think of Bethesda as a first-party Xbox studio, but it is. As such, like all first-party Xbox games, Starfield will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one of release. The catch with this is that it’ll likely only be the standard edition of the game. This means any season pass or bonus content will still have to be purchased separately by the player.
Starfield was first unveiled at E3 2018 with a teaser featuring a space station orbiting a desert planet. After that, Bethesda went radio silent about the game for three years. Since the studio tends to have a slow development cycle, this wasn’t very surprising. It was assumed even then that we wouldn’t see anything solid on Starfield for years.
Well, the time has finally come, and Bethesda’s first new IP in years looks fantastic. We didn’t get a chance to see any gameplay, but the small bit we’ve seen of the world looks fantastic and rooted in hard sci-fi. It can be assumed that it’ll be an RPG in the vein of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, but we’ll have to stay tuned to find out more.
It seems like earlier rumors that Starfield was “pretty much done” were incorrect. Unfortunately, it’ll still be a year and a half before we get our hands on it. We’ll finally get a chance to play Starfield when it releases November 11, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
