Batman 1989 fan game demo

Batman 1989 inspires Arkham-style fan game complete with Nicholson’s Joker

A fan artist has created an impressive Arkham-style game set in the world of Tim Burton’s Batman movies, but the Batman 1989 fan game demo may not get a playable release to the public. There’s a lot of excitement over both Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, the next games from the developers behind the various games in the Batman: Arkham series, but many fans may be disappointed if there isn’t a straight Batman game in the works right now. Fan artist Osmany Gomez has combated by creating his own Batman 1989 fan game, but due to legal concerns they’re not releasing it to the public.

Can the Batman 1989 fan game demo be played?

Batman 1989 fan game demo

The impressive fan game demo based on the stylish world of both Batman 1989 and Batman Returns is, unfortunately, currently not available to the public for download since artist Osmany Gomez is concerned about copyright issues, which Warner Bros is notorious for enforcing even amongst fan creations.

For now the “I Am Batman” fan game demo can only be viewed in videos like the one below and over on Gomez’s Artstation page. The video is created in the Unreal engine and contains the Batcave and a chunk of Gotham City that looks almost spookily accurate to the movies. The player controls Michael Keaton’s Batman in third-person Arkham-style (although there is a first-person mode too) and the Batmobile can be driven as well. Jack Nicholson’s Joker makes a brief appearance, and the loading screen shows an in-game render of Danny DeVito’s Penguin too.

Presumably there will be more videos as work progresses, and hopefully the artist will reverse their standpoint on releasing the game to the public as it looks incredibly faithful to the iconic movie world.

In other Batman-related video game news today, Injustice and Mortal Kombat creators Netherrealm is once again teasing that it is working on a Marvel vs DC fighting game, something that most fans probably imagined they’d never see.
