A Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition PC version, but it isn’t being made by Capcom — rather, a bunch of modders are getting together to bring players the experience that the game’s developer isn’t likely to deliver.
As with previous games in the franchise, Devil May Cry 5 is releasing a Special Edition of the game. Unfortunately, PC players are being left out in the cold; the game’s release date announcement late last month had a PC version notably absent from the listed platforms. Now, some modders are making it happen themselves in a project that has been dubbed Devil May Cry 5 Spite Edition.
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition PC mod will ‘challenge even veteran players’
Thus far, only one piece of Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition PC content has been revealed: the “Legendary Dark Knights” mod. A team of five people have created a mod that will implement the higher difficulty mode that is returning in Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition. A difficulty mode of the same name previously featured in Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition.
The Legendary Dark Knights mod is making some big promises, but that won’t be the only piece of content on the way — Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will feature several other improvements over the base game such as the ability to play as Vergil. The “Spite Edition” is billed as a modpack; presumably, other modders and/or mod teams will be adding more of the missing content with their individual projects.
Devil May Cry 5 is no stranger to fan-made mods. A multiplayer mod that featured several single-player enhancements and PVP combat was revealed earlier this year, supplementing the game’s lackluster “cameo” system and providing players with a more robust multiplayer experience.
Unfortunately, there’s not yet any word on when the Devil May Cry 5 Spite Edition mod pack will come out. For now, PC players can check out the trailer for the Legendary Dark Knights mod and get ready to face an even greater challenge.
