It looks like the Call of Duty Dead Ops Arcade game mode will be returning as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, bringing back a fan-favorite variant of the Zombies game mode for the franchise’s newest release.
Call of Duty has had a lot of different game modes over the years, and many of those game modes have been enhanced with variants. PS5 players are once again getting an exclusive game mode for a period of one year, but it appears that everyone will get to enjoy a new Dead Ops Arcade mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Call of Duty Dead Ops Arcade continues a top-down tradition
An image shared on Reddit shows what appears to be the install sizes for the various game modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. One of the slightly more surprising reveals, however, is apparent confirmation of the Call of Duty Dead Ops Arcade game mode which will take up a whopping 11.8 GB on its own.
The Call of Duty Dead Ops Arcade mode first appeared as a hidden option in Call of Duty: Black Ops followed by a sequel in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. This is a variant of the Zombies game mode (which is already confirmed for Black Ops Cold War) that looks like is launching on Day 1 instead of being one of the many pieces of upcoming content for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Dead Ops Arcade differs from the standard Zombies game mode by shifting to a top-down perspective and using twin-stick shooter controls while evoking imagery of classic arcade games.
This new game mode was previously teased by Treyarch in late September, although no firm confirmation has emerged since then. The install page for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War serves as good evidence that Treyarch is not only following through on its teaser but giving players access to this throwback game mode on Day 1. Players can find out for certain when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches later this week on November 13, 2020.
