CYBERPUNK 2077 DELAY

Rumor: Cyberpunk 2077 to be delayed into 2021 (Update)

UPDATE (11/10/2020): CD Projekt Red has now commented on the rumors surrounding a potential Cyberpunk 2077 delay. Read more here.

UPDATE (11/9/2020): There is mounting speculation that CD Projekt Red removed the Cyberpunk 2077 release date from the game’s official Twitter account. However, CDPR never added the December 10 date to its Twitter bio after the game’s previous delay, while the account’s Twitter banner still features its current target release date.

ORIGINAL STORY: Cyberpunk 2077 is rumored to be delayed into 2021, with a noted video game leaker hinting that CD Projekt Red may once again postpone the launch of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 was seemingly set to retain a 2020 release date, with CD Projekt Red confirming that it would launch on December 10, 2020. This followed a previous delay which had shifted its release date from September to November. However, a Twitter leaker with a successful track record has hinted that another delay could be imminent.

The rumors stem from a tweet by ‘Tiffany Treadmore,’ the Twitter user who previously correctly leaked that E3 2020 would be canceled, announced the date of a long-awaited Nintendo Direct before it was officially confirmed, and teased the existence of Half-Life: Alyx before Valve’s announcement.

Posting from the @HotGirlVideos69 Twitter account, Tiffany tweeted: “So what if #Cyberpunk2077 gets delayed….. Again. Like what if it doesn’t launch this year. Like uh until 2021.”

In response to a follower asking her for more details, Tiffany replied: “I’ve heard unhappy things.”

Another Cyberpunk 2077 delay?

CD Projekt Red has yet to respond to the rumors, and at the time of this writing, the game is set for its December 10 launch. However, given that its previous delay was announced less than a month before its launch, there is still potential for another unexpected delay.

The developer previously stated that it was experiencing issues with shipping Cyberpunk 2077 on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which required the company to produce nine test versions of the game while working from home.

CDPR’s Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski said that the priority was ensuring the game was a smooth experience on all platforms, and that the extra 21 days of development time would afford them the opportunity to make this a reality. However, if the rumors of a further Cyberpunk 2077 delay are correct, this would indicate that CDPR has again undercalculated the amount of time necessary to achieve parity across all versions of the game.

We have reached out to CD Projekt Red, with the company stating that there was “no comment to provide on rumor and speculation.”
