Fall Guys cheaters have been ruining games for some people. Hackers in Fall Guys have been particularly bad, with some nasty people using a fly cheat to simply float above the game’s many obstacles. Now, Mediatonic has said that they’ll soon start taking “more immediate action” to tackle the problem.
If you haven’t been keeping up with Fall Guys, it’s an adorable party battle royale game where players must navigate obstacle courses akin to MXC or Wipeout. It can be challenging (and is often frustrating), but it’s still a ton of wholesome fun.
Unfortunately, some people are taking what should be a light and silly game a little too seriously by using hacks. These Fall Guys cheaters are most prominently using a “fly cheat” which allows them to simply float to the end of an obstacle course rather than actually navigating the game’s devious traps and pitfalls.
It’s bad for streamers, too. Popular Twitch streamer TimTheTatman had Mediatonic giving him special attention by banning hackers who were interfering with his efforts to break a week-long losing streak, a challenge he eventually overcame by scoring his first win.
Mediatonic has been aware of the cheaters for a while now, stating that they were “aware of the speedhackers” back in early August. The current state of the game will ban cheaters after they complete a game, but it will still likely ruin one of your rounds. Now, Mediatonic is looking to up its anti-cheater game.
“Dealing with cheaters is a top priority for us[,]” stated an uncharacteristically serious tweet on the game’s official account. “At the moment, when a cheater is detected, they are able to finish the current show before being blocked[.] We are going to start taking more immediate action soon.”
The tweet doesn’t specify what that ‘immediate action” might be, but we can speculate. Since cheaters are currently banned at the end of a show (that is, a full game with all of its round), this may mean that a cheater will now get banned at some point during the game. If we’re lucky, Mediatonic has figured out how to ban cheaters instantly.
Either way, it looks like the Fall Guys cheaters won’t be able to ruin our games for much longer. Anti-cheat technology is an ever-evolving war, however, and we’ll probably see a constant battle of new cheats and anti-cheat countermeasures coming out for the foreseeable future.
