The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe release date delay Master Chief tear

Stanley Parable pokes fun at Halo Infinite delay with its own message

There’s good news and bad news for fans of The Stanley Parable. The bad news is that there’s going to be yet another The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe release date delay. The good news is that they’ve made the announcement in a pretty funny fashion.

“Today, I want to share an important Stanley Parable development update with the community,” read one such statement on the developer’s Twitter. “We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Stanley game experience that meets our vision.”

The preceding statement sounds a lot like many other delay announcements released in recent weeks. If it seems familiar to you, that would be because they’ve just taken the Halo Infinite delay announcement and pasted their game name and developer name over the originals.

Crows Crows Crows didn’t stop there, though —  The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe release date delay announcements also targeted today’s Deathloop announcement and what appears to be a Spider-Man: Miles Morales announcement.

While the Halo Infinite and Deathloop announcements stand out, the Spider-Man: Miles Morales announcement is a little stranger. As best I can tell, this profanity-laden meme doesn’t appear to be based on an actual release date delay for Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe release date delay may be disappointing to some, but this isn’t the first time the game has had its launch date pushed back. The game’s official website has 2019 (and now 2020) crossed out at the top left of the screen.

Many developers have had to make tough decisions in recent months as work-from-home challenges and other complications have made it more difficult than ever to get their games developed. When big-budget titles like Halo and Deathloop get delayed, it shouldn’t be that big of a surprise to see smaller titles get affected, too. You’ll be able to enjoy the surreal adventure gameplay of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe when it launches in 2021 — unless it gets delayed again.
