The new Logic album No Pressure has made its debut and it contains a very special surprise for gamers from the NerdCore rapper. A Logic Metal Gear cameo appears on the introduction track featuring the O.G. Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter.
The track “No Pressure Intro” kicks off with sick beats and Logic’s enthusiastic rapping, marking a great start for the album that serves as the crowning achievement of his retirement from rap. Logic has made the decision to exclusively stream on Twitch, but not before closing out his music career with a bang. Gamers get a surprise at the 1:16 mark: the original Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter steps in right after we hear the classic codec ringtone (via iHeartRadio).
“Hey Logic, Snake here. I-I hear you’re planning world domination through a new form of Metal Gear. Well, listen to me: it won’t work.”
David Hayter’s cameo is a welcome surprise, although it’s not entirely an unexpected one for longtime fans of Logic: the rapper has a strong presence in the gaming community, laying out verses about all sorts of nerdy goodness over the years.
Hayter has a long career as an actor spanning more than 40 years. While he’s made appearances in films and movies, he is perhaps best known for his voice acting work. His voice acting roles include Zangetsu in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the voice of the male Jedi Knight in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the Winter Soldier in Marvel Heroes in an uncredited role.
His most famous role, however, is undeniably that of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear franchise. David Hayter voiced the iconic Hideo Kojima character in the first four games and its spin-offs along with tons of cameo appearances in other games, a role he’s eager to reprise. Hayter’s role as Snake was replaced by Keifer Sutherland for Metal Gear Solid 5.
No Pressure already sounds like it makes for a great send-off for a man who is probably the world’s biggest NerdCore wrapper. You can buy Logic’s new album No Pressure on Amazon right now and you can listen to the Logic Metal Gear cameo for yourself on YouTube starting at 1:16.
