new Shin Megami Tensei 3 gameplay matador boss battle

New Shin Megami Tensei 3 gameplay shows us a weird boss battle

Atlus has revealed new Shin Megami Tensei 3 gameplay as part of a nearly two-hour stream celebrating the next generation of this upcoming game. With Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster and the recent reveals of Shin Megami Tensei V, fans will surely be happy to get a first look at how this updated remaster looks and feels.

Earlier today, Atlus did a two-hour stream talking about the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei games as reported by Gematsu. Most of the stream focused on them talking about the franchise in general and what we can expect from these new releases, but we did get to see nearly 14 minutes of raw, uncut gameplay towards the end of the stream.

The new Shin Megami Tensei 3 gameplay kicked off with the presenters talking about how pretty the game looked with its new graphics. We then got a quick tour of the graphics menu as our protagonist ran around in a massive underground base, exploring the location before getting into a battle against a handful of demonic slimes. One slime battle ended and another began; we got to see the player’s party fry all of the enemies in rather short order.

It wasn’t long before they encountered the Matador boss. This fighter with flair was first introduced in Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne Maniax. This boss makes use of buffs to increase his evasion and agility as high as possible, making him a particularly difficult fight for players to overcome.

The first itself goes on for a few rounds. Fortunately, the Matador wasn’t able to buff himself up too much during the battle and the player traded blows back and forth, eventually defeating the Matador. The gameplay portion of the video then concluded.

You can see the new Shin Megami Tensei 3 gameplay for yourself in the Atlus stream below starting at 1:04:38. You’ll be able to buy this game for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021.
