The very first real-world PS5 Dualsense pictures may have just leaked online. If these are the genuine article, then the new PS5 controller looks absolutely massive compared to its predecessors.
The reported leak was posted by ResetEra forum user Gamer17. According to him, this image was taken on the manufacturing line, although it’s a little difficult to say for certain judging by the picture.
You be the judge: take a look at what may be the first of the real-world PS5 Dualsense pictures for yourself!
If this picture is indeed real, then the controller looks pretty darn big. It’s a little difficult to say for certain because we don’t know the hand size of the person holding it. However, we do have one useful point of reference: the headphone jack.
A headphone jack is 1/8″ (3.5mm) across. I rotated the rumored image leak and measured it as 20 pixels across which gives me a point of reference — it looks like the Dualsense might be roughly 7.125″ wide from handle to handle. (As an aside, some people were concerned that there wouldn’t be a headphone jack — there definitely is as you can see from the above image, but that information was already released when the controller was shown during the PS5 games presentation.)
One thing that is evident from the picture, however, is that this will be a pretty thick controller. Newer wireless controllers are pretty hefty as it is, but all of the fun new toys stuffed into the PS5 controller might mean that Sony had to make a beefier unit.
Unfortunately, we can’t verify the first leaked PS5 Dualsense pictures as genuine, so take this leak with a grain of salt. In the era of 3D printing and photo manipulation, there is always the possibility that this is a very convincing fake. You’ll be able to find out how big the controllers are for certain when the PS5 launches sometime later in 2020. For now, you can check out the controller’s trailer below to see it in crisp 4K resolution.
