The World Ends With You anime has been revealed as a new expansion to this Square Enix action RPG. The super-stylish game The World Ends With You already had a pretty cool anime aesthetic, and now it’s going to debut as its own show set in the same universe.
The reveal of this anime was subtly teased all the way back in late May 2020. Conventions were being canceled left and right, but that didn’t change the fact that there were new things coming out that needed to be announced. One of these canceled conventions was Anime Expo which has since shifted to an online-only event called Anime Expo Lite.

At the time of the post, Anime Expo Lite revealed that The World Ends With You was going to serve as the cover for the convention’s program guide. Since there isn’t going to be a physical program guide this year, they’ve gone and posted it on their website when they announced the online-only convention.
Now, gaming industry tweeter Nibel reports that Square Enix has pulled the trigger on officially announcing The World Ends With You a brand-new Twitter accountanime. The announcement was made via set up for The World Ends With You: The Animation.
That Twitter account leads to a website and some sad news: we’re going to have to wait to hear more about this anime. The full reveal of the anime — presumably with some kind of awesome trailer — is going to be made late next week as part of the Anime Expo Lite online-only event.

There are still a bunch of things we don’t yet know. How many episodes is this anime going to be? Is it going to feature all of the characters from the game?
