Mafia 2: Definitive Edition is being given to current owners for free

There’s some good news for current owners of Mafia 2 and Mafia 3: you’ll be getting Mafia 2: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3: Definitive Edition for free, respectively, starting today on Steam — and that’s not all.

A press release from Take-Two Interactive reveals some great deals for people who already own the Mafia games. Starting things off, you’ll get the definitive editions of Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 as a free upgrade on Steam today if you already own the originals.

The bonuses are even better for Mafia 3 owners — they will get a free upgrade on Steam as well as PS4 or Xbox One depending on which console they own the game for. (Mafia 2 was not released for the PS4 or Xbox One.)

If you only own one or two of the games in this trilogy, the deals don’t end there. Gamers who own one or more titles in the franchise will also secure special reduced-price upgrade costs to complete the Mafia trilogy via an in-game menu. Furthermore, all Mafia 3 DLC is available for free on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

Mafia 2: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3: Definitive Edition are available for purchase or upgrade today. As for the first game, you can look forward to Mafia: Definitive Edition launching on August 28, 2020.
