If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, your choices just got a whole lot more interesting. A DayZ free weekend is coming to Steam, and that’s not all — a DayZ sale will be taking place for both PC players on Steam and console players on the PS4 and Xbox One.
“Have you yet to try your hand at enduring the post-apocalyptic world of DayZ? Then we have some great news for you!” stated a blog post on Bohemia Interactive’s website. “[There] will be a DayZ Free Weekend on Steam, where you can experience everything the hardcore survival hit has to offer, for FREE!”

If you happen to be unfamiliar with DayZ, it is the standalone sequel to the mod that popularized a more hardcore style of zombie survival game. It first began as a mod for Arma 2 and remained that way for some time before Arma developer Bohemia Interactive realized its potential. They brought the modder on staff and funded a standalone game with many improvements, although some feel that it lacks some of the charms of the original (which still remains popular to this day.)
Now, not only will there be a DayZ free weekend on Steam from May 21–25, but the game itself will be on sale for as much as 40% off!
While the discounts on PC, PS4, and Xbox One will be the same, each sale will be running on different dates.
When are the DayZ sale dates?
- PC (via Steam) – May 21–25, 2020
- PS4 (via the PlayStation Store) – May 13–27, 2020
- Xbox One (via the Microsoft Store) May 19–25, 2020, for Xbox Live Gold Members
Prospective players will be able to grab the base game for 40% off during the DayZ sale on all three platforms. If you want to add in even more content with the Livonia expansion, you’ll be able to pick that up as well for 20% off on all platforms.
