Fallout 76 Wastelanders launch trailer gives you what you want: NPCs

The Fallout 76 Wastelanders expansion is almost here. And to celebrate, Bethesda has released a launch trailer celebrating its arrival. However, the free expansion won’t be coming to PC (which includes Steam), Xbox One, and PS4 until April 14. You can watch the full trailer below.

This launch trailer gives a light overview of the story and NPCs players have been clamoring for since the game came out in 2018. It appears as though there is a treasure hidden in Appalachia, prompting all of the people to move back in hopes to track down this rumored reward. Bethesda seems to have found a way to justify having NPCs now, which is a thoughtful touch.

The Wastelanders update includes the aforementioned NPCs (with branching dialogue options) as well as some more missions, a revamp of the main campaign, factions, a reputation system, companions, weapons, enemies and more. Fallout 76 has had some big updates in the past, including a battle royale mode, but this looks to be the biggest yet. Given where the rough state the game launched in, this is good news and a solid way to make up lost ground. The game is also launching on Steam on April 14 and all players who buy the game on that platform will receive Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics for free. That offer is only valid until April 28.

The Fallout 76 Wastelanders expansion has been a long time coming. Announced at E3 2019, this highly anticipated update was originally scheduled for fall 2019. However, Bethesda delayed it 2020 back in October to polish it up for release. The update was then given an exact release of April 7 back in February, but then was further pushed one week because of the current pandemic. So instead of living in a world where a huge tragic event has crippled society, you can now also play in a world where a huge tragic event has crippled society.
