New SteelSeries Arctis headsets to benefit from A-Volute acquisition

SteelSeries has acquired Nahimic software creator A-Volute. Known for its gaming peripherals, including the Arctis line of headsets, SteelSeries is aiming to expand its audio tool arsenal with the help of A-Volute, the leading independent developer of 3D sound solutions for gaming.

SteelSeries CEO, Ehtisham Rabbani, described A-Volute as a “natural fit” as “with their excellence in audio software, they’ll help us improve gamers’ audio experiences even further.”

Before being acquired by SteelSeries, A-Volute made a name for itself with its Nahimic software, which is used by over 15 million gamers for features like surround sound, sound tracking, volume stabilizing, mic filtering, and a night mode preset.

In the press release announcing the news, it’s mentioned that “SteelSeries’ acquisition of A-Volute will add even more tools to its arsenal to continue to lead the way in gaming audio.”

It’s not clear when exactly new SteelSeries headsets will start using features developed by the A-Volute team, though we should hopefully hear about that sooner rather than later.
