It’s looking like there might be a Samurai Shodown Epic Games Store exclusive dealafter all, even after the developer’s higher-ups indicated that they turned down an offer to go exclusive. Consequently, fans of the latest Samurai Shodown are none too happy about the move.
“The cat’s finally out of the bag!” read a tweet from the game’s community manager. “SNK is proud to announce Samurai Shodown is coming to the Epic Games Store! Looking forward to clashing swords with everyone come release!”

Way back in June of last year, it was revealed that SNK had turned down an exclusivity deal with an unnamed PC retailer. While a Samurai Shodown Epic Games Store exclusive release wasn’t announced at the time, that’s what everyone assumed it would be.
Though the game hasn’t been explicitly stated to be an exclusive, the lack of any mention of Steam (and Epic Games’ past behavior with snapping up PC games for a year) has caused fans to take their criticisms to Twitter:
First you delayed it for so long for PC and now you're putting it on the most garbage digital store out there, way to kill your own game for PC community, guess I'll pass on it…

Please tell us this is not an exclusivity deal.
If it is, I'm sorry: I'm done with modern SNK.
I could've maybe let it go if there wasn't the very public statement that it wouldn't be exclusive to a PC storefront. But that made the rounds, and I don't enjoy being lied to.

The announcement was made as part of a batch of new releases coming to the Epic Games Store in the next few months. Other titles coming to the platform include Dread Nautical, Industries of Titan, and Saturnalia.
No specific release date or launch price has been mentioned. For now, you can check out Samurai Shodown’s store page on the Epic Games Store.
