An Overwatch new hero teaser has been released and it’s got a stunning surprise — we may be seeing the final missing founder of Overwatch making their debut soon. A journal of Dr. Mina Liao reveals some insights into her research on Omnics, and she could very well be making her return to Overwatch.
A Personal Log of Dr. Mina Liao has been released on the Overwatch Twitter. There’s no in-game date specified, but it seems to take place at some point before the Omnic crisis really kicked off. The Athena A.I. — best known as the announcer in Overwatch — was deemed a success and Dr. Liao is moving on to a mysterious new project.

“There is still so much to do, but I have to try to show the world a better way, before it’s too late,” the log stated, emphasizing the growing fears against artificial intelligence at the time. We have seen neither hide nor hair of Dr. Mina Liao since a very old news post about the game which introduced her as one of the founding members.
“The United Nations covertly brought a few of these unique minds together to form a small, nimble team, aimed at striking significant blows against omnic strongholds,” the news post stated. “Their names—Morrison, Reyes, Amari, Liao, Wilhelm, and Lindholm—have since become legendary. The world would come to know them as the founders of Overwatch.”
So, is this an Overwatch new hero teaser? Will we be finally getting Liao or one of her A.I. creations? Let’s hope that we find out soon!
