Nintendo Announces Wii Sports Club Coming To Wii U

Nintendo has announced that it's bringing it's wildly successful Wii Sports to the Wii U as Wii Sports Club. Wii Sports Club features upgraded HD visuals, MotionPlus support, and online multiplayer. A new club component will be added, allowing users the ability to register in state and regional clubs where they can interact with other users via Miiverse, play casually, or compete in ranked matches to increase individual and overall club rankings.

Each of the five main mini-games—Bowling, Boxing, Tennis, Golf, and Baseball—will be available individually for $9.99 via eShop starting with Tennis and Bowling on November 7th. The remaining mini-games will arrive in the coming months. Nintendo will also allow a one-day pass to access the Wii Sports Club for $1.99.

Wii Sports is arguably the reason that the Wii sold so well in the first place, so re-introducing it on the Wii U with additional features is a smart move, albeit one that appears to be made in desperation. Do you think it will have anywhere near the same impact on the Wii U as it did on the Wii?
