Season one of the Castlevania series was a scant four episodes long but set the stage for a fantastic show. The animated series takes place in late 15th century Wallachia (current-day Romania) and deals with a vengeful Dracula who wishes to purge the Earth of humanity in retribution for the death of his wife.

At the end of Castlevania season 2, Alucard, Trevor, and Sypha defeated Dracula. With the Lord of Vampires dead, there’s a power vacuum that his minions rush to fill. Issac and Carmilla both begin to build an army. Meanwhile, Alucard retires to the Belmont library, and Trevor and Sypha set off on new adventures.

The trailer shows a sneak peek at season 3 of Castlevania. Carmilla and Issac both want to destroy humanity for different reasons. Carmilla, being a vampire, wants to herd humans like cattle, so she has a never-ending supply of blood. Issac, on the other hand, believes humanity to be corrupt and evil and seeks to convert them to his cause or destroy them. These two forces will cross paths with Trevor and Sypha, and they’ll once again be forced to defend humanity from evil.

Netflix’s Castlevania series was loosely based on Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. However, with Dracula’s demise last season, the series veered off onto its own path. Instead of putting himself into a deep sleep as he did at the conclusion of the game, Alucard moves into the Belmont family library.

You’ll get a chance to see what happens in the next chapter of Netflix’s Castlevania when season 3 releases on March 5, 2020.
