Today's dedicated Nintendo Direct provided tons of details on The Wonderful 101, Wii U's next big game from Platinum Games designer Hideki Kamiya. In case you had trouble following along, here's a list of important details for after you watch:
- Geathjerk invaders have invaded our peaceful planet and now it's up to the Wonderful 101 (that includes you) to defend the peaceful population. As you play, you'll find all of your heroes and increase your powers.
- The Wonderful 101 will be released on September 15th.
- Objectives will also include rescuing citizens throughout the game world. Using the Wii U GamePad, you'll draw a circle around these citizens and have them join your team as temporary heroes.

- Using the Unite Morph ability, your team of heroes can come together for special attacks. Drawing a circle on the GamePad will create Unite Hand (basically a big fist), a straight line will create Unite Sword, a right angle will make Unite Gun, and a wavy line will create Unite Whip. You can also use the right control stick if you don't want to draw. The more team mates you have, the bigger your weapon, the more power your attacks will have.

- Unite Morph will also allow you to solve puzzles in stages. You can even create a hanglider to cross gaps between buildings or unlock locks with Unite Sword.

- In Wonderful Mart, you can buy new items with O-Parts you get from battle. You can buy new moves like Unite Guts which let you reflect attacks. You can also buy power ups called Custom Blocks, as well as healing items and more. "You could say it's a conveience store exclusively for heroes," says Kamiya.

- Kamiya also explains replayability systems like level scores and other stats like time and damage taken. Additionally, as you play you'll learn new moves like Multi-Unite Morph which lets you use several Morphs at once for big combo strings.

Kamiya and Nintendo really want you to know when The Wonderful 101 is out for Wii U! Still, having played a little of The Wonderful 101, I can understand why. First, it's a new IP which means it'll need any help it can get. Second, it's on Wii U which… isn't doing so well. Third, it's actually really fun with some deep action gameplay totally unique from anything else you've played before.
Regardless, if that incredibly epic (and I hate that word) trailer at the end doesn't sell you on The Wonderful 101, I don't know what will.
