The Last Guardian Supposedly Still In Development At SCE Japan

Despite many conflicting reports coming from this past E3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, The Last Guardian is reportedly not dead in the water as you may have heard previously.

The game, originally announced at Sony's 2009 E3 Press conference, has faced its share of adversity over the years, with Team ICO's founder Fumito Ueda parting ways with Sony, and other key staff members leaving for greener pastures. Past rumors had suggested the game was now being handled by Sony Santa Monica, until those rumors were squashed, leaving fans hopeless for an eventual release.

E3 2013 came and went, and The Last Guardian was again missing in action. When Sony execs were pressed on the game's status, no one could give a definative answer, and conflicting reports said that the game was on hiatus… or not.

Now, according to a brief mention in an interview with Polygon, via PlayStation LifeStyle, Creative Director at SCE Japan Gavin Moore states that The Last Guardian is still in development at Sony's Japan Studio alongside Knack, and a new game from the creator of Gravity Rush.

Despite this glimmer of hope, The Last Guardian is still an elusive game that may or may not ever see the light of a retail store. Are you still holding out? Or have you written The Last Guardian off as our very own Nick Tan has?
