Dave Bautista Gears 5

Dave Bautista will join Gears 5 as a playable character

“It’s about f****** time,” says Dave Bautista, famed actor and former wrestling champion. Dave Bautista, or Batista for those who are more familiar with his ring name, made the surprising announcement of his Gears 5 appearance on his official Twitter account.

The short reveal teaser trailer shows Bautista fully equipped in Gears 5 armor as he turns around with the usual confidence, putting his glasses on with a style that is characteristic of larger-than-life persona. Batista is the name that is announced in the trailer, possibly catering to a broader audience that is more familiar with his WWE moniker.

The Gears 5 Dave Bautista playable character will be available starting September 15, 2019, right after the WWE Clash of Champions. However, the announcement didn’t reveal any additional details regarding how and when you’ll be able to unlock Dave Bautista. Will the character be easy to earn through gameplay, or exclusively purchasable with real money? The latter is more likely true, as developer The Coalition has already expressed its plans for selling cosmetics and Hero characters.

Dave Bautista is probably going to be a multiplayer-exclusive character, a big name that is set to convince fans to purchase Gears 5’s premium in-game currency ‘Iron.’ Other celebrities may eventually follow suit, turning Gears 5’s multiplayer modes into a deluge of Hero characters that actually impact gameplay. It has been revealed that Gears 5 will support PC and Xbox One crossplay for several multiplayer modes.

Bautista is mostly known for his tough guy roles in movies, and Gears 5 sounds like a perfect fit. The cast from the Microsoft series traditionally boasts a supernatural amount of muscular mass and extreme levels of testosterone, something that Bautista isn’t a stranger to. The star of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movie series will be available on September 15, 2019, but you can start playing Gears 5 on September 9, when the third-person shooter releases on PC and Xbox One.
