Final Fantasy VI Soundtrack Given Love By OC Remix

The gang over at OverClocked Remix have long been known for their stunning work putting new twists on the best video game music of all time. These are not your typical fan remixers (good as those can sometimes be), these guys are professional musicians putting out top-tier work. Most recently, OC Remix's take on Final Fantasy VI has become available for download.

This project was made possible by a successful kickstarter campaign which raised $150,000. That cash was needed to pay Square Enix for the rights to the music as well as hire the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra. Now, thanks to kickstarter, the donating fans, and Slovakia, you can enjoy this music for free.

Many Final Fantasy fans and general game music fans would say that FFVI deserves such treatment; Alex Osborn named it his favorite game soundtrack of all time in our own recent feature. It's no surprise that someone on staff picked it as their #1, as this game's tracks are almost universally praised in the gaming community.

A sampler video is live on YouTube. Check it out:

Do you love the FFVI soundtrack? You know you do. I mean, come on.
