A Forsen Overwatch video has come out highlighting a sentiment that I’ve seen expressed more than a few times ever since Role Queue was announced by Blizzard Entertainment not too long ago. Forsen was streaming on Twitch and looking at various bits of gaming topics when he stumbled across information about the upcoming change to 2-2-2.
“Oh! Is that— wait, is that like [League of Legends] has, where they have picking phases?” Forsen began, referring to a similar system implemented in Riot Games’ wildly popular MOBA. “Oh, that is… way too late [laughs] to save the game. That is way too f*cking late.”

“That should have happened years ago, man,” the Forsen Overwatch clip concluded. “That should have happened years f*cking ago, man.”
If you haven’t been keeping up with the latest Overwatch news, the Forsen Overwatch Twitch clip refers to a new feature that is currently being tested on the Public Test Region called Role Queue. Role Queue will effectively do two things: split the matchmaking queue for Quick Play and Competitive Play by roles (Tank, Healer, and DPS) and require exactly two of each role on a team — no more, no less.
Whether you play Quick Play or Competitive Play, you’ve surely seen an issue with compositions in Overwatch. Perhaps you had a selfish team that had three, four, or even five DPS. Alternatively, you may have had ill-fitting compositions like 3 healers, 1 tank, and 2 DPS for some unfathomable reason.
The freedom to pick whatever you wanted also led to the dreaded GOATS comp of 3 tanks and 3 healers. While this particular team composition was only really used at the highest levels of play, it also made for very boring watching in the Overwatch League.
Is Forsen right? I’m sure that there are many people who will share his view that this should have been implemented years ago. Whether or not it is indeed “too late” to save the game from decline is something that only time will tell. You can watch the Forsen Overwatch clip for yourself below.
