Fortnite World Cup Xbox One controller being given away by Microsoft

To celebrate the upcoming Fortnite World Cup, Microsoft has announced a standalone release of their Fortnite themed Xbox One controller. In addition to this, the company will also be giving away the Fortnite World Cup Xbox One controller to a lucky gamer on Twitter.

Microsoft originally released the Fortnite themed controller as part of the “Xbox One S 1TB Console – Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition Bundle” bundle last month. The bundle featured the controller alongside a 1TB Xbox One S. Both featured a black and purple color schemed inspired by the game’s Legendary Dark Vertex outfit.

Now, Microsoft’s Major Nelson has announced that it will be releasing the “Xbox Wireless Controller – Fortnite Special Edition” on its own. The controller hits retail on September 17, 2019 and will go for $64.99, which is the same price as a regular pad. In addition to this, Microsoft has also opened pre-orders for the controller.

Major Nelson stated in a tweet that he would also be giving away one controller. Sadly, he didn’t give out any details of how the giveaway would proceed. Interested fans would have to simply “keep an eye” on his Twitter for more details.

With the Fortnite World Cup taking place this weekend, Microsoft could possible give out more details on this giveaway just in time event. The event starts on Friday, July 26 and runs all the way to Sunday, July 27. Perhaps the giveaway involves actually having to watch the Fortnite World Cup live on Mixer.

Aside from its unique color scheme, the controller will also come with 500 V-bucks. Fortnite players can use these to purchase various items from the in-game store, including the game’s Battle Pass. Sadly, the actual Dark Vertex cosmetic set, rare pickaxe, and glider that came with the Xbox One S bundle are not included with the controller.
