Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare sequel won’t be at E3

It seems that EA will not be showing off its Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare sequel at EA Play next week. The new Plants vs. Zombies missing EA Play was recently confirmed by one of the series’ producers.

Shaun Laker, the live producer on the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare games, made the announcement that its new Plants vs. Zombies shooter would not be at the show over Twitter. As part of this, he instead encouraged players to look forward to content for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 that’s coming over the summer.

Last February, as part of its quarterly earnings call, EA mentioned that a new Plants vs. Zombies shooter (as well as a new Need For Speed game) was coming this year. Prior to this, an Amazon listing for a tie-in comic book leaked that a “Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 3” was on the way. The Amazon listing described the tie-in comic as a “bridge between video games PvZ: GW2 and PvZ: GW3.”

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 originally launched back in February of 2016. Since then, EA has been keeping the game alive with events and challenges. Laker’s tweet hints at the return of the “Capture the Taco” mode later this summer. This mode sees both plant and zombie players racing to collect as much tacos before the timer runs out. Additionally, the tweet also mentions more weekly challenges coming to the game, starting on July 16.

Despite the constant updates to Garden Warfare 2 however, fans would most likely appreciate the release of a new Plants vs. Zombies shooter. After all, three years have passed since the game hit stores. With the new game supposedly coming out this year, EA will likely show it off to the world sooner, rather than later. It just won’t be this coming week at EA Play.
