Call this Gears of War 3 Teaser “Daddy”

The Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Beta wrapped up this past weekend. There was clearly a lot of marketing dressed as beta testing in there but now that gamers aren't salivating over multiplayer footage or hidden unlocks, Epic Games and Microsoft have to find a different way to whet your appetite for the enemies Marcus and company will be taking on.

I suppose that's why it's so strange to see this teaser trailer leading off with the conflict between Marcus Fenix and… his dad?! Epic Games says that:

This action packed trailer offers a riveting look at the epic-scale campaign in the "Gears of War" trilogy finale, and debuts on May 28 during the Champions League Final Match at approximately 9:45 p.m. GMT around the world, and during Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs on TNT in the U.S.

It's a strange choice from Epic Games and the burly men they've got running around in their game, but who knows how this will play out? Honestly, the whole Dom looking for his wife thing in Gears of War 2? I wasn't a fan. I thought it was really, really stupid. Honestly, that plot line was just about the most contrived piece of narrative I've seen in video games in a long time.
