[Update 2]: InsideGamer (via NeoGAF) managed to get a sneak peak at the crowdfunding page before it was pulled down. Here's the information they grabbed:
– The website already had 10.000 dollar of donations, but it was impossible to donate money. Strange.
– The counter said they needed 1,2 million dollar, but in the text it said 1,1 million dollar
– The team consists of 8 men right now.
– IGN should have info on May 6th, but its strange that the website was online (for a short time)
– Dyack is chief creative, NOT ceo
[Update 1]: Shadow of the Eternals is in fact a sequel to Eternal Darkness and is expected to launch on the Wii U and PC sometime during the fourth quarter of 2014. The game will be single-player only and fit into the action-adventure horror genre.
The information was discovered on a test page on the developer's website (via NeoGAF). Here's Precursor Games' official description of the game. Note: It was initially called "Shadow of the Ancients."
When Detective Paul Becker is called to one of the bloodiest gang massacres in Louisiana state history, only two survivors remain from a brutal conflict between two rival cults. As Becker begins his interrogations of the suspects, their combined recollections will uncover the truth about the ‘Ancients’.
Shadow of the Ancients is a sequel to the critically acclaimed Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Reqiuem. Featuring an ensemble cast of heroes and villains, the game will span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States. Players will question the perception of reality as they try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events to progress through the adventure.
Shadow of the Ancients will take players on a memorable journey throughout time; weaving historical fact with disturbing fiction to create an experience unlike any other.
[Original Story]: Gamers hungry for a follow-up to the GameCube's horror-filled cult classic will be getting just that, as the guys over at Precursor Games (which we can only assume is made up of former Silicon Knights talent) have pulled back the curtain on a new project, Shadow of the Eternals.
According to the game's official site, the crowdfunding campaign for this spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness will begin in just under three days. Be sure to check out the teaser trailer above (courtesy of IGN) for an early look at what's to come.
