Electronic Arts has announced that Madden NFL 25 will not be headed to the Wii U.

The publisher released the following statement to IGN:

We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future.

Call me crazy, but wouldn't Nintendo's GamePad provide the best possible experience for a game like Madden? Sounds like a wasted opportunity to me, and another major loss for Nintendo.

Third-party support is quite pathetic for the Wii U right now, and it looks like that will only persist into the foreseeable future.
