New Zelda Title Coming To 3DS, Spiritual Successor To A Link To The Past

Can you believe it? Nintendo has just announced that a new entry in The Legend of Zelda franchise will be headed to the 3DS.

The game will be set in the same world as the beloved SNES title A Link To The Past, but will be a completely new and original title. The handheld's 3D functionality will play a major part in the gameplay, as both depth and height perception will be key.

But the wacky Nintendo gimmicks don't end there, as Link is able to transform into a 2D drawing—yep, you heard me right—which changes to a side-view perspective, allowing our sword-wielding hero to walk along walls and through narrow spaces.

The Big N didn't unveil a subtitle for the game, but you can expect it to hit store shelves by year's end. This is going to be one awesome year for 3DS owners.
