Mass Effect 3 Will Have Gay and Lesbian Interactions

As one of the few openly gay gaming journalists out there, I would like to say that this has been a long time coming. (Har, har, har.) Mass Effect Executive Producer Casey Hudson has confirmed the option for lesbian and gay romances in Mass Effect 3 via Twitter:

Happy to confirm #ME3 supports wider options for love interests incl. same-sex for m&f chars, reactive to how you interact w/them in-game.

The emergence of openly gay relationships are few and far between in gaming, though the homoerotic subtext is practically everywhere. I mean, Ryu and Ken? Army of Two? Come on, something must be going on between loading screens.

Mass Effect 1 essentially had lesbian sex (if you believe the asari count in that way), and Mass Effect 2 had more lesbian relations, though the sex scene (or lack thereof) is extremely tame. Really, it's been up to the PC modding community to make it any form of gay relationships possible in Mass Effect (and Dragon Age, for that matter) [Correction: Zevran was there. Never mind. I forgot him because he's totally not my type.]

We'll have to see how far BioWare is willing to go with this, because the gay relationships in Dragon Age 2 tend to end in tragedy (so much man-drama). If I find someone at BioWare during E3, I will grill them for some details. And they'd better deliver, or I'm going to resort to some renegade interrupts.
