Judgment release date

Judgment release date revealed, digital version to get early access

Fans looking forward to the next installment in the Yakuza universe now have a date to look forward to. The Judgment release date has been revealed.

The date was revealed with an image by reputable Twitter user, Wario64. The image states Judgment will be released on June 25, along with the tagline “Justice is Blind.” The game will feature dual audio and players who pick up a digital copy will get early access to the game on June 21.

The information was discovered in a new Amazon listing for the PlayStation 4 version of the game, which prices the game at $59.99. The listing currently also includes a coupon for saving $1.22 on the game.

The latest project from Rya Ga Gotuku studios was originally titled “Judge Eyes” (“Project Judge” in the West). Today’s announcement is in line with the information revealed by the studio at the Kinda Funny Games Showcase in December 2018, which stated the game had a summer 2019 release window in the West.

Departing from playing as a Japanese mafia member in the studio’s Yakuza series, Judgment sees the player take control of a former lawyer turned detective called Takayuki Yagami. The game will see Yagami attempting to solve murder cases in the criminal underworld. Judgment is still set in the same location as Yakuza, Kamurocho, and is in the same canon. There was some discussion about whether the game would see any other crossover with its Rya Ga Gotuki studio mate. However, Yakuza characters will not feature.

Sega Associate PR manager recently spoke about the differences between Judgment and Yakuza. “This one is definitely much more narrative focused than Yakuza, Yakuza is much more about a single man. It’s about Kiryu. The name of the series is kind of a misnomer because the name of the series is Yakuza but it’s not about the gangs. This one is much more focused on the world itself.”

If you are looking to get more of an impression of the upcoming title before the June 25 Judgment release date, we have a preview of the game.
