Dreams second closed beta, sony

Media Molecule’s Dreams launches paid early access this spring

Sony and Media Molecule have announced in a blog post today that the upcoming creative toolset game Dreams will receive a paid early access mode this spring. Early access to the game will be in strictly limited numbers and only offer players a degree of the full content found in the game. Media Molecule will also charge players for access to this pre-release window, with access costing $29.99.

The details of the early access functionality were shared today on PlayStation’s official blog in a post from Media Molecule. In the post, the developer stated that by allowing a select number of players early access to Dreams, the studio hopes to encourage the most enthusiastic creators while also taking the chance to polish the experience for everyone else. The mode, dubbed Creator Early Access, will give early adopters extensive tutorials on the game and access to the full suite of creation tools ahead of release. Early access will not grant players access to the game’s story mode, however.

Media Molecule also confirmed that creations from the Dreams beta will still be accessible through this new early access mode. In the lead up to the game’s official launch, there will also be new tools and updates pushed out to the game for those in the early access. The blog post goes on to say that there is no NDA attached to this access so streaming of the game and sharing your creations is encouraged.

The Creator Early Access will be available through the PlayStation Store across the globe, though Media Molecule warns that places in the program are very limited and that pre-registration is a must if you’re at all interested in signing up. As of yet, there is still no confirmed release date for the full Dreams experience though this news of allowing early access is a positive sign for the game’s progress. It has been a long time coming since it was shown at the PS4 reveal event in February 2013.

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of you can register for the program here.
