Monster Hunter movie release date

Monster Hunter movie release date set for 2020

The Monster Hunter movie release date has been confirmed by Sony Pictures: you’ll be able to see Mila Jovovich and friends beat the crap out of gigantic leviathans in late 2020. This upcoming movie is being put together by Paul W.S. Anderson, the writer-director behind the Resident Evil films that have a habit of not following the plot of the games and practically printing truckloads of money. Jin Au-Yeung, Diego Boneta, Meagan Good, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Josh Helman, and Ron Perlman have been announced as co-stars, and Tony Jaa will be playing a role as a “mysterious man” who has figured out how to fight the gigantic monsters that plague the land.

We first heard about the Monster Hunter movie back in 2018. Capcom officially confirmed it in October of last year and we got some pretty cool pictures from the set via Ms. Jovovich’s Instragram account a month later. We now know that the Monster Hunter movie release date is September 4, 2020. Sure, it’s a ways away, but here’s hoping they’ll be using that time to put out a quality cinematic experience.

Here’s the background on the movie, straight from the folks behind the film:

Behind our world, there is another — a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, terrifying attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man (Tony Jaa) who has found a way to fight back.

I loved the Resident Evil movies and Tony Jaa is the king of kicking butt, so it’s sure to be an interesting experience to see the two of them together on the silver screen for the first time. The Monster Hunter movie release date has certainly aimed for an interesting time—it will be coming out on Labor Day weekend. A lot of people head out to the movies on Labor Day weekend and it looks like Sony thinks the movie can succeed against the stiff competition. You’ll be able to watch it yourself on September 4, 2020.
