Resident Evil 2 Demo downloads

Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo downloads hit 1 million (but not everyone has finished it)

The Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo downloads count has already surpassed the one million mark, just four days after being released across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Despite that milestone, the number is a far cry from the reported figure of people that have actually finished the demo, with only 29 percent of players thought to have completed the entire demo. Still, the seismic number of downloads in such a short time has led to suggestions that the Resident Evil 2 Remake is set to be the fastest selling title in the series’ history.

There are no specifics given for why the completion rate for the 1-Shot demo is so low, with roughly 290,000 players making it through to the end.

Though the likely reason is that the demo locks players out after half an hour. If you just play through the objectives, then the demo can be finished in about 20-minutes, so it’s likely that players spent a little too long zooming in on Leon Kennedy’s adorable new baby face. Either that, or they’ve been staring at the assorted gore that litters the Racoon City Police Department and watching the light reflect off the many, many pools of blood.

The number of players who completed the demo is unlikely to worry Capcom. In fact, the developer is most likely quite psyched about the download numbers.

Having surpassed one million downloads since being released on Friday, the Resi 2 demo managed a peak of 11,000 concurrent players on Steam, almost three times as many as the 4,000 concurrent players that Resident Evil 7‘s demo bought in on the same platform (via GitHyp).

It’s a figure that’s hard to ignore, yet it could have little bearing on how the game manages when it’s out in the wild. Still, a full-blown remake of Resident Evil 2 is something fans of the series have been begging for a while and coming off the back of the critical success of Resi 7, it looks set to pull in a lot of new fans and possibly go on to break new records for the Resi series.
