Metro Exodus Release Date Now a Week Earlier

Metro Exodus is the third game in the highly underrated Metro 2033 trilogy, and it was previously announced for release on February 22, the same day as Days Gone, Crackdown 3, and Anthem. Deep Silver just announced that the game has gone gold, and perhaps in response to this rather game-packed day, the publisher has decided to move the Metro Exodus release date up one week. Metro Exodus will now release on February 15, which is the same as the new Crackdown 3 release date.

Klemens Kundratitz, CEO at Deep Silver, had a few words above the move. “Our fans have been waiting patiently for Metro Exodus ever since we announced the title at E3 2017. We had previously delayed the release date to ensure 4A Games had the time to deliver their ambitious vision for the game, but now we’re delighted to confirm that Metro Exodus has ‘gone gold’ and we are able to bring the release date forward to the 15th February 2019.”

Deep Silver also revealed the first look at the game’s haunting and incredible title sequence. The intro was created by Santa Monica-based studio Elastic, which is becoming increasingly well-known thanks to the amazing and iconic title sequences the studio has created for properties such as Game of Thrones and Westworld. You can check it out below.

Metro Exodus is the sequel to Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, and the first game in the series to travel beyond the confines of the titular Moscow Metro. The series is set in Moscow after most of the remaining population was forced underground by nuclear winter, and is based on the books by Dmitry Glukhovsky, who’s a far bigger fan of the games than The Witcher creator Andrej Sapkowski. We played Metro Exodus a few months’ back and said “the game seems like it will match or even surpass its predecessors.” We’ll know on February 15, 2019, it seems.
