John Romero New DOOM Sigil

John Romero’s New DOOM Experience SIGIL Will Continue The Original Adventure

A John Romero new DOOM WAD (“Where’s All the Data?” asset collection) is on its way and it will be acting as a spiritual successor to the campaign of one of the world’s earliest first-person shooters. Titled SIGIL, this new WAD marks the return of one of gaming’s most legendary developers along with a few neat surprises. SIGIL is planned to be the John Romero new DOOM experience that many classic gamers have been hoping for. It will be the spiritual successor to the fourth episode of the 1993’s DOOM, a game that arguably popularized the first-person shooter genre. This new megawad will feature nine single-player levels and nine deathmatch levels. What’s more, it will be released to the world completely for free.

Collectors out there would probably love to get their hands on a physical copy of the John Romero new DOOM WAD and they’ll certainly have that opportunity. SIGIL will be released in two limited-edition boxes created by Limited Run Games, a company that specializes in making physical editions of video games both new and old. These will be sold as the SIGIL Standard Edition and the SIGIL Beast Box.

Here’s what you get in the Sigil Standard Edition physical release from Limited Run Games:

  • A “big box” featuring the artwork of Christopher Lovell whose work has been featured on numerous metal album covers
  • A 16GB 3 1/2 inch floppy disk-themed USB drive that includes the John Romero new DOOM WAD and some extras
  • A 2-disc jewel case including the megawad data and music by Buckethead
  • SIGIL sticker and a Romero Games Sticker.

The Sigil Beast Box offers way more cool stuff:
