Path of Exile PS4 Version Delayed to February 2019

Grinding Gear Games announced that the Path of Exile PS4 version has been delayed. The PS4 port was announced earlier this month with a release window of December. The developer revealed the game’s delay on PS4 in a forum post this week.

Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games broke the news on the game’s official forum on November 28.

“We underestimated the amount of work it would take to finish the certification process during the busy Christmas period,” the studio stated. “While we hope to have everything ready in January, we feel a lot more comfortable promising early February as a target release window.”

The developer said that the increased production time could help improve performance and stability. The forum response was mostly positive, with a number of posts wishing the developers luck and understanding the reason for delay.

Path of Exile is expecting a major expansion called Betrayal on December 7. The expansion adds new story quests where the player character will fight the Immortal Syndicate. The Syndicate has 18 unique members with personalities, friendships, rivalries, and more. Players can use these to their advantage in the quest to destroy the Syndicate. Path of Exile Betrayal also adds new skills, items, dungeons, and reworks the end-game content. The expansion should make its way to Path of Exile on PS4 when it releases.

Path of Exile is a free-to-play action RPG that was originally released in 2013 on PC. The game came to Xbox One in August 2017, and was well received on that platform. Players choose one of seven classes, and then outfit their character with a unique combination of the game’s hundreds of skills. Each class has “Ascendency” subclasses, which further specialize characters.

The game is supported by cosmetic microtransactions and supporter packs. Grinding Gear Games has assured that they would never sell content that modifies gameplay. The developer hasn’t backed away from that in the five years since its original release. Path of Exile PS4 is expected to release in February 2019.
