Massive EVE Online Battle Breaks Out, Pretty Lights Ensue

This EVE Online battle, sent in by tipster elmoreoocyte is fantastic for its scale and visual display of power, but maybe you'd like to hear an EVE Online story today, so let's get to the details.

PC Gamer reports that on January 27th, the ClusterFuck Coalition and the HoneyBadger Coalition duked it out. Reinforcements continued to flood the battlefield for hours on end, including the two largest ships in the game, Supercarriers and Titans.

These two groups boil down to players joined by their natural love for Something Awful (ClusterFuck) and Reddit (HoneyBadger). There's been lots of tension between the groups, but it wasn't until one Titan-piloting Goon warped into a Redditor-controlled zone that the Redditors started aggression in force. The pilot, named Dabigredboat, says this was the result of a single misclick.

PC Gamer says that the Titan and Supercarrier ships require over 9000 900 pilots to destroy and that multiple entered the battle. In fact, three Goon Titans, five Goon Supercarriers, and one Reddit Supercarrier failed to exit the battle, succumbing to enemy fire.

According to GoonSwarm leader The Mittani, the fleets suffered some 700 billion ISK (or $20,000) in damage during the "complete rout" of the Something Awful alliance. I'm sure I've said this before but EVE Online is the greatest game I will never play.
