Microsoft has confirmed that players can download PUBG free on Xbox One for a limited time. The battle royale title, which has been playable on Microsoft’s console since December 2017, received its official launch recently. PUBG had been part of the Xbox Game Preview program, but was given a full release on September 4. The 1.0 version is now available to download free of charge, but only for a certain period of time.
The reveal came courtesy of the Microsoft store’s official store description of PUBG. The updated information on the Xbox store page for PUBG shows that a “full product release” of the Tencent developed game is free to obtain “for a limited time.” There’s been no word as to how long the game will be free for but, given that it’s usually priced at $29.99, it’s worth downloading for nothing right now.
The news comes hot off the heels of rumors that a potential PUBG PS4 port is incoming. Reports in Tuesday’s media suggested that the title would be working its way to Sony’s console by the end of the year. There’s been no official confirmation from Microsoft, Tencent, or Sony on this matter yet though. Microsoft has confirmed that more PUBG news will be inbound during its XO18 event, which will take place on November 9 and 10. Expect to hear more on this possible story during the live event this weekend then.
Meanwhile, another recent title can also be purchased for free on the Xbox store. Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, the latest installment in Konami’s soccer franchise, can be downloaded free for a limited time as well. Again, there’s no information on how long PES 2019 will be available for nothing. If you were interested in picking it up but you were put off by the price, now is the time to get it.
