Palm Android Release Date Announced

The Palm Android release date has been revealed by Verizon. The diminutive device will be launching exclusively on that network on November 2, 2018. This smartphone acts as a reboot of the brand which had ceased operations in 2014. It will only be available in the US and, as of writing,  no news on a release in other markets has been put forward by the company.

The Palm Android device will retail from Verizon for $300 on contract, or $350 if you buy the device outright. It will not need a new data plan, however, as you will instead require the carrier’s NumberShare service, which costs an extra $10 a month.

This device will not be intended as any kind of flagship or high-spec smartphone. Rather it is meant to act as a weekend phone of sorts. With its low specifications and tiny screen, it will not be able to do much in the way of high-end processing. However, it will still run Android Oreo.

Barring any issues with its processor, GPU, or RAM, the device should be able to use most apps but pales in comparison to other handsets. It will feature a Snapdragon 435 processor, with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The Palm will also feature a 12-megapixel camera on the rear to take photos with. It also only features one virtual button on the screen. This input will act as the home, back, and multitasking for the device.

The Plam Android device also comes with a face-unlock feature but its most unique feature, by far, is Life Mode. This will switch on Do Not Disturb as well as battery save mode, but it will also switch off all wireless radios. This means it will not be able to connect to Wi-Fi and cellular unless the screen is turned on.
