Buy A Pre-Owned Wii U, Download Past Purchases For Free

If you haven't already picked up a Wii U, you may want to consider purchasing one used.

Over on NeoGAF, one gamer who purchased a pre-owned Wii U has reported that they've been able to download past purchases made by the former owner, in this case, Trine 2 and Nano Assault Neo. This would lead one to believe that digital purchases are not tied to one's Nintendo Network ID, but rather the console itself.

Eurogamer also notes that if one wishes to transfer purchases from one Wii U to another, they'll need to send the console to Nintendo. I'm sorry, but hasn't technology progressed beyond this kind of ridiculousness?

What do you think about the issue? Let us know how you think Nintendo should handle the debacle in the comments below.
