Life Is Strange 2 will be coming to Mac and Linux sometime in 2019. Dontnod Entertainment and Square Enix announced the news today. Life Is Strange 2 Mac and Linux ports do not have a date attached, although it is likely that all five episodes of the title will be available at release.
Feral Interactive is developing the Life Is Strange 2 Mac and Linux ports. The first episode of Life Is Strange 2 released last week on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Dontnod has still not announced when the rest of the episodes are coming out.
Feral Interactive is a seasoned developer known for porting titles to macOS and Linux. The developer has previously worked on Life Is Strange: Before the Storm and Life Is Strange, along with titles such as Hitman, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Sleeping Dogs. They have a long-standing relationship with publisher Square Enix. The team’s ports are generally received well.
Life Is Strange 2 is an adventure game following brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz as they run away from their home. As the second full title in the Life is Strange universe, Dontnod is expanding the scope of their story from the characters introduced in the first game. The supernatural elements, empathetic characters, and emotionally-charged narrative remain.
We liked the first episode of Life Is Strange 2, and gave it three-and-a-half out of five. While noting that it has similar issues as the first game in the series we said, “those stumbles are a bit less severe and those victories are a tad more successful.” The cast was endearing, even if the dialogue could be corny.
This summer saw the release of The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit a free standalone story in the Life Is Strange universe. Dontnod has said that choices from that game will have some impact on Life Is Strange 2. There was no word on if that title would be coming to Mac or Linux.
