Final Fantasy 7 9 X X-2 XII Switch Xbox One

Final Fantasy 7, 9, X, X-2, and 12 Coming to Switch and Xbox One

A whole horde of Final Fantasy games are coming to Switch and Xbox One soon. In two separate announcements, we learned that Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, and Final Fantasy 12, are coming to Nintendo and Microsoft’s consoles in 2019.

This is especially big news for Nintendo since there hasn’t been a mainline Final Fantasy title released on a Nintendo console since Final Fantasy 6 (3 in the United States) came out in 1994. Xbox fans have fared a better since they got FF13 and FFXV, but Microsoft’s consoles haven’t received any of the classics until now.

Further details on what these ports entail are a bit sketchy. We do know that both consoles will get the Zodiac Age remaster of Final Fantasy 12, and the remastered versions of Final Fantasy X/X-2. However, we don’t know which versions of Final Fantasy 7 and FF9 will be the basis for these new ports. It’s likely that they’ll be straight ports of the PC versions, but we’ll know more when it gets closer to release.

I for one am pumped about the Switch releases. We’ve gotten portable versions of these games before (except for FF12), but the extra horsepower and large screen of the Switch should make these classics even more enjoyable.
