smash bros ultimate roster leak, Crazy Video Game Fan Theories

Smash Bros Ultimate Leak Potentially Reveals Simon Belmont as New Fighter

Nintendo itself has seemingly provided us with the latest Smash Bros Ultimate leak, with it looking very likely that Castlevania‘s Simon Belmont will make his way into the upcoming Nintendo Switch game. The news comes after the company posted an unlisted video to its Smash Bros Ultimate YouTube channel, which was initially titled ‘Galaga Medley’ before being renamed to ‘Bloody Tears/Monster Dance.’

As most Castlevania fans will know, ‘Bloody Tears’ and ‘Monster Dance’ are tracks lifted from the iconic Konami series. While Simon Belmont hasn’t been officially confirmed by Nintendo, as both of these tracks first appeared in Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, it seems likely that the protagonist will make his way into the upcoming fighting game.

After the slip-up was spotted by an eagle-eyed Nintendo fan on the Smash Bros subreddit, the video’s title was changed to ‘Galaga Medley’ and all traces of the ‘Bloody Tears/Monster Dance’ reference removed. The audio track can be listened to below:

A Nintendo Direct focused on Smash Bros Ultimate is set to air later today, with director Masahiro Sakurai revealing more about the upcoming game during the presentation. Though Sakurai hasn’t confirmed that new fighters will be revealed during the presentation, fans are hoping that some new roster additions will be revealed during the Direct.

Simon Belmont has been one of the most highly requested characters for Smash Bros, though has yet to be introduced to the series as a playable fighter. Castlevania in general has been overlooked by Nintendo, despite Konami property Metal Gear Solid having been featured in Super Smash Bros Brawl with the introduction of Solid Snake. Considering that Snake is now reappearing in Smash Bros Ultimate, it seems that Nintendo’s partnership with Konami for Smash Bros has been rekindled, and Castlevania fans will no doubt be pleased that the gothic action series is being teased for the Switch fighting game.
