Sega and Sports Interactive’s Football Manager 2019 has just been given a release date! The latest instalment of everyone’s favorite soccer management game is bringing the changes this time around, however. Not content with including the Bundesliga for the first time, Football Manager 2019 is dropping the (in?)famous “Manager Man” from the box for the first time in fourteen years. In November, no longer will you walk into the shops and see a man without eyes pointing and/or shouting at football players running about on a pitch.
Indeed, the Football Manager 2019 release date is November 2. This is true for all formats of the game. We’ll be addicted yet again on the standard game and Football Manager Touch on November 2 on PC, Mac, iPhone and Android. Sadly, there is no word on a potential Switch release of Football Manager Touch 2019. The new trailer can be seen below:
Speaking to Eurogamer, Miles Jacobson (studio boss at Sports Interactive) spoke of the decision to drop Manager Man. Mr. Jacobson argued that the decision was taken as part of a “year of change” for the company.
“We’ve taken the opportunity with moving to our fantastic new office in the Olympic Park to make many changes, such as bringing in our first COO, putting a better structure in place, changing some of our practises as part of what we call SI 3.0 – and a release in Germany for the first time too. So with all that going on, it seemed the perfect opportunity for us to have a think about our branding and try and be as fresh with that as we are being with the other changes in the studio, hence the new logo and a point of view perspective for the key art and pack shot.”
A new home and new vision means changes, then. Despite this, Jacobson says that “fans of Manager Man shouldn’t be worried.” It’s said that “he’s currently sitting on a beach in Santorini, sipping on a delicious cocktail, deciding what his next career move will be. He’s likely waiting til Xmas to get a new job – the bonuses for keeping clubs up for experienced managers will likely tempt him back in.”
So there you have it. Manager Man might be gone, but it sounds like he’s having the time of his life. Football Manager 2019 and Football Manager Touch 2019 release on November 2 for PC, Mac, iPhon and Android.
