Splatoon 2 octo expansion amiibo

New Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion Amiibo Release Date Announced

Nintendo has announced the release date for their new Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion amiibo. The Octoling Octopus, Octoling Boy, and Octoling Girl will be released in the EU, UK and Japan November 9th, 2018.

The amiibo are based on the protagonists of Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion and can be bought individually, or as a three-pack (at least in Japan). They look like brand new and unique sculpts, as the amiibo Octoling children support weapons we have never seen before in amiibo form. Add to that the actual physical differences between Octolings and Inklings, and you can see that these amiibo are must buy for Splatoon fans.

There is no word on what the amiibo will offer in terms of in-game rewards. Previous Splatoon themed amiibo unlocked new in-game outfits based around the figures themselves. Additionally, they unlocked features in-game such as single-player levels or concerts, so it would be rather understandable that they would unlock Octoling-based clothing, but there could be more features than just outfits. Beyond that, who knows what they will do in other games considering how limited amiibo are becoming in terms of in-game features.

With the inclusion of the Inklings in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we could see the Octolings appear up in Nintendo’s upcoming fighting game too. There does not seem to be any concrete release date for any US release of the amiibo.

It is, however, lovely to see that Splatoon still getting support from Nintendo with these amiibo. Add to that the positive reactions from fans to this news and, all in all, its lovely to see.

So what do you all think? Do you think the amiibo are going to make a splash? Or do you think they are for suckers? Sound off in the comments below!
