The Nintendo Switch exclusive Octopath Traveler released last Friday and it seems to be doing well, despite not topping the chart. The JRPG debuted at number three while Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy remains number one. Lego The Incredibles came in at number two.
Octopath Traveler debuting at number 3 is impressive given that it’s a new IP and that it’s aimed towards a niche audience. The traditional JRPG might not get higher than this in the UK but it is still an impressive achievement for Square Enix.
Crash Bandicoot remaining at the top isn’t a big surprise. When the platformer released on PS4 last year it stayed at number one for several weeks. The release on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC has got Crash Bandicoot fans on those systems purchasing the game. Good sales for Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy can only mean good things for the future of the beloved marsupial.
FIFA 18 is at number six which comes as no surprise as it’s a mainstay in the UK charts. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker re-enters at number four. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe drops from seventh to tenth and Mario Tennis Aces falls to eighth in the charts. The PS4 exclusive God of War has gone up one place to fifth.

What is surprising to see is the absence of Grand Theft Auto 5. The open-world crime sim is usually in the top ten and sometimes top five of the UK charts. Grand Theft Auto 5 not being in the charts is a bit jarring after seeing it there for so long. However, GTA fans needn’t worry, as we’re sure it won’t be long before it’s back.
